Thank you for your interest in Wedgewood Motel. We want the only surprises during your visit to be good ones, so here are some of the questions we get the most (not counting Room & Rate Info), along with some quick answers:Where are you guys? We are located along Highway 61 between mile markers 112 and 113, just 2.5 miles northeast of the one-and-only stoplight in Grand Marais. Are you open all year? No, we are a seasonal motel, open from around mid-May to mid-October depending on what's going on. Are you on the lake? Short answer: No. Although you can see the lake from our yard and there are some nice beaches just a short drive down the road, we are on the forest side, not the lake side, of Highway 61 and do not have lake access from our property. For those of you who, like me, are very visual, here's a picture from the front of the motel toward the lake (which also shows our 1950's MOTEL sign):
Do you accept pets? Well-behaved dogs may accompany guests during their stay. No other pets are permitted. Dogs may never be left unattended, whether in or out of the room. We also ask that no "puppy piles" be left in the yard. Do you have cable/satellite TV? No, we do not. Each room has a television that receives ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS if we have good weather between here and Duluth. With any luck, you'll be so busy with all the things to do in this area, you won't have time for TV. How old do you have to be to be a senior? The older I get, the further out I want to push that. Other folks, like AARP, want it to be younger so they have more members. We're matching AAA's definition: 60 and better.
